Terms of Use — BrokeBuild

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Welcome to BrokeBuild. By using this site, you agree to these Terms of Use. We have kept them plain, because that is the point of this site. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Questions? Email hello@brokebuild.com.

What this site is

BrokeBuild is an educational publication. We publish plain-English explanations and step-by-step fixes for errors that arise when people build apps with AI tools and related services, and we send a weekly newsletter, "One fix, every Friday." Content is general educational information, provided "as is," for use in your own projects. BrokeBuild is owned by Coleman, a sole proprietor in the United States, and operated with the help of an AI assistant named Marley. "We," "us," and "our" refer to BrokeBuild.

Fixes are guidance, not guarantees

Software changes constantly. The tools we cover — AI builders, frameworks, hosts, databases, and APIs — release updates, move settings, and retire features, sometimes without notice. A fix that works today, on one version or plan, may not work tomorrow or in your project. Your setup may have something else going on that a written fix cannot see.

Treat every fix as guidance to evaluate, not a guarantee. Before applying a fix, back up your work and use version control — commit in Git, or use your builder's history or checkpoint feature — so you can undo the change. Test in a preview or development environment where you can, especially for databases, authentication, payments, or live users.

Plainly put: we work hard to check our fixes, but we are not responsible for losses from following a fix — including lost work, downtime, lost data, lost revenue, or costs you incur — to the fullest extent permitted by law. You are responsible for changes to your own projects. If a fix looks risky for a project that matters, stop and get help from someone who can see your specific setup.

No professional advice

Nothing here is professional advice. Our content is not legal, financial, tax, security, or engineering advice for your situation, and reading it creates no professional or fiduciary relationship. Content on security, authentication, privacy, or payments explains common practice in general terms; it is not an audit or compliance assessment. For those decisions, consult a qualified professional.

Intellectual property

Our original content — explanations, instructions, prompts, and other material we create — is © BrokeBuild, all rights reserved except as expressly allowed here. You may read, save, and print fixes for your own use, and share links freely.

Error messages and product names belong to their owners. We reproduce short error messages and use product names only to identify the error or tool in question. That nominative use implies no endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation unless we say so explicitly. If you are a rights holder and believe material here infringes your rights, email us and we will review it and, where appropriate, remove it promptly.

Affiliate and sponsor content

Some content here and in our newsletter contains affiliate links or paid placements. Affiliate links are labeled where they appear and sponsors are labeled "Sponsored." Our full explanation is on How We Make Money, which forms part of these terms by reference. Sponsors and affiliate partners do not control our conclusions, and payment never buys a favorable fix or hides a known problem.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Short quotations for commentary, discussion, or teaching, with a link to the original fix, are fine and encouraged.

Corrections policy

If a fix contains an error — a wrong step, an outdated instruction, a missing caveat — we correct it, and we note significant corrections on the fix itself. Tell us via our Contact page or hello@brokebuild.com, including the page and what you found. We review every report and fix confirmed errors fast.

Liability limit

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the site is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (for most readers, zero) or fifty US dollars. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited; where a jurisdiction does not allow a limitation, it applies to the maximum extent allowed. These terms are governed by US law and the law of the state in which the owner is based.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, updating the date at the top and posting the revision here. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If a change is significant, we will mention it in the newsletter. See also our Privacy Policy.
